Heart centred counselling focussing on mind, body, and spirit conncection
Heart centred counselling focussing on mind, body, and spirit conncection

Beginning counselling is often a quiet act of courage—a whisper within that calls for support as we navigate the intricacies of life. The wounds we carry may surface as anxiety, overwhelm, conflict, or disconnection—sometimes rooted in known or unknown experiences that shape our patterns and well-being.

Healing begins when we are met with true presence and compassion. My approach centres on building a trusting, authentic relationship—one in which your story is heard and honorued, and where every part of you is welcome. Through this connection, we create the space for old patterns to soften, for new perspectives to emerge, and for healing possibilities to gently unfold.

If you’re curious about how this work might support your path, I invite you to reach out and explore whether our work together feels like a fit for you.

Welcome

I am an approved service provider for the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA).

With over thirty years in education—including thirteen as a counsellor—and three years in private practice, my journey has been shaped by listening, learning, and supporting others. I am grateful to live on the traditional lands of the Quw’utsun people in the Cowichan Valley, where I share life with my husband, family, friends, and community. The beauty of this land nourishes me—whether I am paddle boarding, cycling, hiking, or simply tending the garden.

Why Unity?

  • Unity Counselling is named for a truth I’ve witnessed again and again: freedom arises when mind, heart, and spirit come into harmony—within ourselves and in relationship with one another

  • When we experience unity, whether inwardly or in connection with others, it fosters real growth and resilience.

  • Healing, too, is never only ours; each step toward wholeness naturally ripples outward, uplifting the lives we touch.

Healing

Life inevitably brings challenges—sometimes through sudden events, sometimes through difficulties that unfold across the years. As children, we often develop coping strategies in response to pain or trauma; these ways of getting by may serve us at first, but can become overwhelming or limiting as we grow older.

Counselling offers a space to courageously notice and release these patterns, trusting the guidance of our bodies and the intelligence within us. Healing is not about fixing what is wrong, but about meeting ourselves with compassion, and stepping closer to the authentic strength and wholeness that has always been within.

Unity Counselling supports adults in moving through:

  • depression

  • anxiety

  • trauma

  • grief and loss

  • self-esteem

  • feeling stuck or unfulfilled

  • anger

  • relationship issues

  • setting boundaries

  • and personal growth

Approach

I use a person centred, interdisciplinary approach to best suit an individual's situation and goals through a variety of modalities. I have training and experience in therapeutic theories including:

  • Somatic Attachment Psychotherapy

  • Somatic Experiencing - Levels I and II

  • Certified BrainGAME Teacher

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • Internal Family Systems

I am a compassionate, open-hearted, open-minded witness, which can be a catalyst for the change you desire:

  • helping to unlock the healing power that is innately within all of us

  • moving toward what gives you fulfillment, personal growth, and freedom

  • being your best self, thus opening to the joy of experience

About Unity Counselling

Individual Therapy

Individual counselling at Unity Counselling

I offer a complimentary 15-minute online meeting or phone call as an opportunity for us to connect. During this time, I’ll listen with openness to what brings you to therapy, what you hope to discover or change, and how you envision your commitment to this process. I’ll also share more about my practice and approach, so together we can discern whether working together feels like the right fit. This first conversation is available to all new clients, whatever kind of support you’re seeking.

I welcome adult clients (18+) from all backgrounds, identities, and walks of life. Whoever you are, all of you is invited and honorued here.

After our initial consultation, if we both feel a sense of fit, we can begin working together in 1-on-1 sessions, intentionally creating space to explore, process, and understand the many layers of your life and inner world. Together, we will shape a therapeutic plan that supports your unique intentions and needs.

Sessions are available in person in the Cowichan Valley, or remotely by secure video or phone—so you can access support wherever you are.

Payment Options for Personal Counselling Sessions

Active clients will be asked to have a valid payment method.
